Lylah was the fourth puppy born in the Islandflats Rock 'N Roll "A" litter (pink girl). The debate around here was choosing a name for her ...
"American Pie" (the song, not the movie) fit our litter theme, and she's sweet as pie. Next, we were tossing around different call names. Holly seemed the obvious name for a girl named American Pie (after Buddy Holly), and Layla (see Derek and the Dominos / Eric Clapton) was also an appropriate Rock 'N Roll name -- which we also liked. However, we know a few other dogs whose names rhyme with Layla, and it even sounded a little bit like "Bailey". Eventually the two names (Holly & Layla) morphed into "Lilah" (we really don't remember how). Of course, we have to be original so we changed the spelling of Lilah to L-y-l-a-h.
Lylah has grown to be a pretty young lady and she's getting noticed in the show ring. Her "almost lethal" tail wags with such exuberance that she almost stumbles from wagging so hard. A very affectionate dog, Lylah loves to put her head on your lap, or snuggle up to you just so you can pet her. Lylah is a focused hard worker. She has a very strong drive to retrieve, and she does so with great happiness. She's a very playful dog, and her favorite toy is a piece of rope. She likes it when you tie a knot in the rope; then she somehow unties the knot.

At the 2011 Flat-Coated Retriever National Specialty in Frederick, MD, Lylah placed first in Standard Novice B agility. She is currently showing in conformation, obedience, rally-o and agility.
Lylah
